Grandpa's Coming!

Grandpa Castillo is finally coming to meet his granddaughter. Grandpa is the last of Wil's immediate family that hasn't met Elisa because he owns and runs a family hardware business in El Salvador's capital city. So, he's a busy man. Anyway, he is planning to come to KC to meet our little girl and celebrate her first birthday with her. Please pray that these plans will work out.

I am excited for the upcoming long weekend so that Wil will be home a few extra days with us. No big plans, just a family BBQ, but at least we'll all be together. Hint, hint to my little brother that means you, too. No more skipping your own birthday party!

Elisa is now walking...with the help of push toys and I wouldn't be surprised if she was walking by her birthday. She also mastered the art of crawling up stairs when her friend Anna from Omaha was here. Thanks to Anna (3 years old), Elisa learned to walk behind a push toy and crawl up the stairs in one day! I think we need to go to Omaha and learn to be potty trained now. So, the little one now throws a fit if we don't let her play on the steps...and until she learns how to go down them safely....there are permanent gates and barracades in the house. Oh boy!

Ready to Travel

Yah! Elisa can now officially go to El Salvador to visit Grandpa and Grandma Castillo and meet her extended family! If all goes as planned, we hope to go down south mid-winter to meet Wil's sister's baby when he (we believe) arrives in September. And it's official...Elisa has her passport. I took a pic of it so Wil's mom could see it. It is much cooler than an adult's passport. First of all, it is almost hard bound like a book and all the "stamps/visas" pages have colorful pics like a history textbook. Guess it's to keep kiddos entertained on the long international flights...as long as they don't have crayons around! :)

Wil also made it home safely from Brazil. It was an exhausting trip for him...had no time to tour at all. However, he did make it to a supermarket to at least bring home some great Brazilian treats. Other than that, he translated for practically everyone at the conference and worked long hours every day. Hopefully, we can go back to Brazil someday and explore it for ourselves.

Another adventure

Well, Wil's off on an international trip once again. He was waiting for his Brazilian visa to arrive and it came yesterday, the day before he is to leave! Wow! This time he will be a full-fledged translator for his boss, the doctor, the entire time. So, no breaks for him and no time to explore the city. The conference will be in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. It's not a really safe city so I am not too thrilled about him going. But I know he's in God's hands and after all, having lived during a war in El Salvador, I think he can hold his own, well, of course with prayers. Which are much appreciated.

Thought I would post this pic of Elisa. This is Elisa's passport picture. Isn't she adorable? Yes, she's in her pajamas, and yes, we took it at home. Much easier for a squirmy little one. We are just waiting for it to arrive any day in the mail.
