Weekend of Firsts

Sorry for such a late posting, Elisa is keeping me pretty busy. She is getting pretty active and her latest thing is she doesn't like to sit for very long. So, it's a little more difficult to get things done. In fact, she kicks so much that she almost scoots across her bed, the floor, etc.

Well, this weekend was full of firsts for her. She did absolutely wonderful in the car for her first trip to Des Moines and then off to LaCrescent, MN for the wedding reception. We discovered the rhythm of the highway puts her to sleep, but if you start to decend and get off on an exit, she immediately wakes up and thinks, "hey, it's time to eat!" So, no fussing the entire road trip except for 30 miles from home on Sunday. We were very happy and proud parents. We'll see where our next trip will be to...

Also during the trip we decided to see how she liked the water in the swimming pool, as she absolutely loves her baths. So, I spent forever trying to find a swimming suit that fit her. (She's very long for her age.) And living 20 minutes away from the beach for 2 years, I had really missed the water. So, I was so excited about going swimming. When Elisa's feet hit the water, she was out -- asleep. No kicking, nothing, just plain peace. Hummm....too bad we can't have an indoor pool in the house in the wintertime to battle those colicky nights!

She is also starting to laugh and coo so much now. The cutest thing is when Wil coos and talks to her and they have their own conversation...I just love watching them.

Growing like a weed

Elisa had her 2 month check up today and she did quite well. Just one shot and the doctor said she is in the 95th percentile for her height and 90 percentile for her weight. So she is growing well! She's been cooing and smiling a lot and loves to spend time on her tummy. I can't believe that she is growing out of so many of her newborn clothes. I think she is pretty much over her colic stage also. She is simply fussy when she is hungry or sleepy -- just like a normal baby.

I've also noticed how her personality is starting to shine. Right now she is pretty content with someone just talking to her and being close to someone. Wil and I are amazed at how big she looks when she sits in her bouncy chair at dinner time and just watches us eat.

A travelin' girl
She sure is a home-body. She loves being at home! If we go out, it's max just a few hours and Elisa is crying for some peace and quiet. We went to Maryville this past weekend as Wil wanted to see my old college town, the 'Ville. Elisa did great until the ride home. WAHHH!!! Not quite sure how she's going to cope with parents that love to travel and go places! :) Next weekend will be her first test as we are going up to Minnesota to my cousin's reception who just got married in Scotland. We really wanted to go to Scotland, but with a baby and all, that will just have to wait. With all these short road trips we're preparing her for her first trip to El Salvador and Costa Rica!
